The St. Teresa’s Academy Dance Team participated in the
Universal Dance Association (UDA) Camp at
The team received a Superior Award, the Leadership Award, 2nd
Place in their Home Routine, the Rock Star Award the second day of camp, and
earned Spirit Sticks every day. In an
individual competition, three dance team members received individual All Star
Awards. The members receiving this
recognition were Senior Kyle Hougland, Sophomore
Emily Isom and Senior Maddy
McGannon.
During drill downs, Emily Isom became one of
the last two dancers standing, and was the 1st runner up in drill
down competition. In addition, Maddy McGannon was the only camp
member selected by UDA to audition next year to become a camp advisor for the
summer of 2008. The team also qualified
to compete at the UDA National Competition in

The dance team participated in a national competition this summer to gain experience in performing, and participated in 12 hours of master’s classes and workshops. Rebecca Oyler and Lauren Christensen performed their solos, and both received a Gold Award. The dance team performed their camp routine “It Don’t Matter”, and received a Gold Award and placed 1st overall in the senior large group division.
In addition to competing, the weekend concluded with a national spectacular and all our dance numbers scored high enough to be included in the final evening performance. Betsy Koehne, Lauren Christensen, and Rebecca Oyler were invited to participate in VIP classes, and performed an additional dance number in the finale. Rebecca Oyler also received the Gene Bicknell Award, which included free master’s classes at any regional in Spring, 2008, and a free entry fee for a solo performance.
